Wombs of the Earth, Daughters of the Soil is a sacred gathering devoted to nurturing the holistic well‑being of Afro‑Indigenous women. This retreat offers participants a restorative space to engage in culturally responsive somatic practices, spiritual reflection, community building, and intentional self‑care rituals.

Rooted in reverence for Mother Earth, this experience honors the ancestral wisdom carried in Black and Brown bodies, wisdom that oppressive and colonial systems attempted to silence. Through ceremony, plant healing, body movement, ancestral remembrance, and deep immersion in nature, participants are invited to grieve, rejoice, reconnect, and reclaim the fullness of their wellness.

Because of the success of the previous year's retreat, we were able to increase the capacity. The retreat will take place on June 17-20, 2027, in the mountains of NC, welcoming up to 30 participants for a weekend of healing, connection, and renewal.

I Am Because We Are is a restorative cultural retreat for Men and Women of Afro‑Indigenous descent, grounded in the Ubuntu principle that our healing is collective and interconnected. This sacred gathering creates space for participants to begin or deepen their healing journeys while addressing the fractures caused by historical and internalized racism, colonialism, and oppression.

Through dialogue, storytelling, ritual, reflection, and nature‑based practices, participants explore the impact of generational trauma and reconnect with the wisdom of their shared lineage.

The retreat nurtures grief release, emotional repair, and communal restoration, all rooted in love, accountability, and the transformative power of collective healing.

This will be our 3rd gathering of I Am Because We are, held biannually in odd years. Our next time together is December 9-12th, 2027.
